DIY Transformation

At some point we have all had that piece of furniture that we like, or may even love, but we still want to change it. Well that is the case with this little one, because her favorite color is PINK!! We transformed her room into the pink palace that she wanted, but her table set did not match and she wanted to have a pink and white table. We began the process by stripping off the old paint and priming the legs as well as the table top. We used a spray paint on the table and once it was coated (about 3 coats), it was time to stencil. She loves unicorns so we had to make it happen! With the unicorn stencils and a stencil of stars, we set to work on making her unicorn dreams come true!

The chairs were also stripped and stenciled, but we wanted to give her some cushion on her chairs as they were hard seats and who doesn’t want to be comfy. The downside on upholstering these chairs was that the seat did not come apart from the base, which made it a little more tricky to staple. Hence, some of the foam for the seating had to be cut so that the material and foam could be tucked. Her first comment when she sat down was “wow these chair are comfortable and I don’t want to get up”. Music to my ears!!

As you can see from the pictures, her transformed table set now matches the chest that we found. She loves all of the colors in her toy chest and that was the focus of the transformed table set. Take a look around your home and see what you can transform before you decide to make a new purchase.
